If you want to be able to safely skipper your own boat by day, the RYA Day Skipper is the course for you!

The practical RYA Day Skipper Course teaches you navigation, seamanship and safety, boat handling and pilotage. It is a very valuable course if you have your own boat or if you are wanting to charter or flotilla.

Many companies in the UK and abroad now require successful completion of the RYA Day Skipper practical course before you can charter a boat.

Before you can join a practical RYA Day Skipper Course you will need to have completed 5 days/100 miles at sea, to include at least 4 night hours. This can be achieved through the RYA Competent Crew course.

The practical course requires a sound working knowledge of all aspects of the RYA Day Skipper Theory Course. You will need to complete a theory course (which you can do with us) or show wide knowledge and experience, before joining the practical course .

We run this popular RYA Sailing Course throughout the year to suit individual needs, either over five consecutive days or over three weekends, from our base at Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport which is fully accesible to the Solent.

Your instructor will sign your logbook to enable you to keep a record of your sea miles and syllabus completed. You will also receive a certificate upon your successful completion of the course.

The cost of the RYA Day Skipper Course includes your accommodation on board your yacht, home cooked breakfasts and lunches (all diets catered for) and drinks (non alcoholic). You can borrow waterproofs if required, free of charge.

Evening meals are not included, although you may cook aboard if you wish. A proportion of mooring fees (split between those aboard) are you only additional expense.
