 We offer a variety of fun and affordable weekend sailing opportunities for those wishing to increase their sailing skills and experiences.
Whatever your level of sailing, these weekends take account of your ability now and increase your practical skills to help you get to where you want to be!
 Boat Handling Weekends
Berthing and manoeuvering in tight spaces can often cause the most anxiety for skippers and their crew too! If you are an experienced sailor (to RYA Day Skipper and above) and would like to build your confidence and skills in boat handling, then this is the weekend for you!
Rigging and Sail Trim Weekends
A fully involved practical weekend that covers the importance of rigging checks and how to make them, before we move on to sail setting and trim.
Spinnaker Training Weekends
Join us as we take you through the preparation and hoist of the spinnaker,sail setting and then the dropping routine.
You'll master the myths (and magic!) of spinnaker sailing!
 Competent Crew ++ Weekend
So, you have have achieved your RYA Competent Crew qualification- that's great. How do you now gain more sailing experience, without doing a formal course? These weekends are just for you!
The focus on these weekends is practical sailing- not cruising. For example we will be sailing in confined spaces where you can practise points of sail and sail trim. By the end of the weekend you will feel more confident about helming and sail trim. We will also begin manouvresunder sail- such as man overboard- as a step towards your RYA Day Skipper.
Time on the water is invaluable for building your experience and sailing skills!
 Day Skipper ++ Weekends
Most qualified RYA Day Skippers and above find little opportunity to practise skills learnt during their formal training- unless you are fortunate enough to have your own boat!
This weekend provides an opportunity for those qualified from RYA Day Skipper to RYA Yachtmaster and above to practise their skills in an informal setting, and gain some invaluable time as skipper under the discreet guidance of one of our RYA instructors.
We will spend time with you at the beginning of your weekend to establish which elements of being a skipper you wish to build on- whether this is your navigation, man overboard recovery, picking up mooring buoys under sail- and of course- time as skipper making those all important decisions!
How our weekends work
Our Sailing Weekends generally begin on a Friday evening. Join us for a meal, a drink and introductions before we set sail. We then return to our marina at Gosport on mid/late Sunday afternoons.
A full itinerary and what to bring list will be sent to you upon booking and you can borrow waterproofs from us free of charge.
What is included?
The cost of your Sailing Skills Weekend includes:
 Your accommodation on board your yacht throughout
Your breakfasts, homemade cooked lunches and our now famous cake!
All diets catered for!
Free use of sailing waterproofs (if needed) to keep you warm and dry
Use of safety gear (life jacket and safety harness) free of charge
Free parking at our marina
We eat ashore in the evenings so that everyone can stretch their legs (this cost is not included).
A proportion of mooring fees (split between those aboard) are your only additional expense.
Even though we offer great value for money, we know it' s not all about
the price! It is about the quality of the weekend and our skippers are
sensitive to your individual needs. |
