How do you fancy a very special opportunity to do some racing with an all female crew? It is great fun and very exhilarating since there are very few yachts that are raced entirely by women.
As part of the racing, we generally provide a training day (or two) so that, by the time we cross the start line, we are working well as a team. We don’t expect to be first across the finish line, but we will have had much fun around the course.
Women's Open Keelboat Championship (WOKC) 23-24 July 2011 In 2008 we entered this inaugural event with Koru and we had a really
fantastic weekend. Eighteen yachts participated with all female
crews. Some crews were very obviously used to racing together,
and they pulled in the trophies. We won the prize for the 'team
who had the largest learning curve', for which we were very proud. Read more ...
It certainly isn't all about winning, it is about doing your best and having fun. We are positive that in 2011 there will be other women who feel brave enough to enter, albeit that, like us, their team have not raced with each other much before.
We will be sailing our J80, Wairua, over the weekend with a team or five. The weekend includes a training day on the preceding Friday.
The cost of our WOKC Weekend includes your training day and two days of racing (usually three races a day). Lunch is provided together with our now famous homemade cake.
The cost of mooring fees and race entry fees is included in the price of the event. Accommodation is not included. We have contacts in the Hamble for accommodation.
Warsash Spring Series 2011 The Spring Series provides a great warm up for the summer racing season. Short energetic races on our J80, Wairua, are held each Sunday morning through March and April from the Hamble.
Before you first race with us you will be required to train on the preceding Saturday and the minimum number of weekends you can select is two (this is so we have some consistency in our racing team!).
So, you can for instance select to race on the weekend of 13 March and 03 April, in which case you will be required to train with us on Saturday 12 March (see table below for dates).
Beneteau CupDate to be confirmed This race in Cowes is the Holy Grail for all Beneteau owners. Join us as we race Koru (our Beneteau First 36.7) , with an all female crew, amongst other cruising and racing yachts from the same boat builder.
We meet on Wednesday evening or early on Thursday morning for a day of training, before heading to Cowes for the briefing and sailing instructions on Thursday evening.
We then have three great days of races in the central Solent, followed by plenty of social activities in the evenings!
Cowes Week Racing Days 06-12 August 2011 Join us to race our J80, Wairua during the Week with a ‘base crew’ who have experience of racing at different levels and on different boats, from dinghies to 50ft Oysters!
As part of the racing, we provide a training day
so that, by the time we cross the start line, we are working well
as a team. We don’t expect to be first across the finish line, but we will have had much fun around the course.
For the training day, you join us at our berth in the Hamble as we talk tactics and positions. We then head out into the Solent, without delay, to begin our practice. Your Training Day is held in advance of Cowes Week.
Over the Race Days we will be based in Cowes so
we will meet you early from the Ferry/Fastcat as we head out for
some practice. We will then have a 4-5 hour race around the buoys
in the Solent before returning to our berth at East Cowes.
If you are staying just for the day, you are welcome to join us for the evenings social events.
The cost of our Cowes Racing Days includes your training day and as many race days as you like. Lunch is provided together with our now famous homemade cake.
The cost of mooring fees and race entry fees is included in the price of the event. Accommodation is not included.

Spirit for Racing offers a fantastic season of racing on our J80 and our Beneteau First 36.7.
Join us to race a number of short races during the Warsash Spring Series and then select any number of other summer races. If you book more than two summer races on Wairua, you then qualify to race as base crew on Koru, our First 36.7. Click here for details.....
Entry fees and mooring fees are included in the cost of your racing with us and we will also ensure that you receive a complimentary team polo.
Upon booking your racing with us you will receive your Joining Instructions which provide a suggested list of what to bring.
Sailing waterproofs are an important item, whatever the time of year, as they keep you warm and dry. We have these for you to borrow, free of charge.
You are likely to have most other items on the list and we encourage clients to travel light because of the limited storage room on board.
Your Joining Instructions will also detail where to find us. We sail from Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport which is easily accessed by road (it is 20 minutes from the M27 at Fareham) or by train to Portsmouth Harbour (from Waterloo).
